Greetings! The Feminist Killjoy Book Club of Calgary held our first meeting on Sunday, August 26. Seven members attended and books were chosen for September and October as well as a meeting set for September.
We’re going to read The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood and have a potluck meetup on September 30 to discuss! I will distribute the location of September’s meeting through the Facebook group and over email (to those not on Facebook). Looking forward to meeting more of you and many thanks to Ben for offering to host!
October’s read will be Ain’t I A Woman by bell hooks. I think it’s available in PDF from the Calgary Library or you can order it from Shelf Life Books. Because it may be tough to find it the city (and is not available through Chapters) I recommend starting the search early.We are on twitter now, sending out updates from @FKBookClubYYC! I will also send out email updates this week for those not using Facebook. This tumblr will mostly be a space for updates but feel free to submit book ideas and other thoughts via the Ask or Submit links.
